Global Dash – Overview

Global Dash is where you can dynamically construct a window showing metrics of your choice from one or more NonStop Servers. The metrics may be from NonStop subsystems/Objects such as CPU or Disk, as well as metrics derived from Applications published on My NonStop such as Shadowbase Monitor, Connex Monitor, Base24, etc.

A Dashboard has the following components:

  • Globe on the left panel

Click to access the Dashboard. Globe changes color to green if all monitored components of all Servers are below previous set thresholds, yellow if any of such metrics are at warning threshold but below the major threshold or it will be red otherwise. You may set these thresholds to your personal preferences as described in Threshold section under Admin tab on the left panel.

  • Top toolbar

There is one bar displayed at the top of the Global Dash. You may see the details of all the servers in the neighborhood that you have logged on to on Web ViewPoint Enterprise. The color of each Server name is based on the respective current states of their monitored metrics. Starting from left, it has the following sections/icons:

    • Name(s) of the NonStop Server(s) are displayed along with the time of the last interval refresh are displayed. Time is derived from the NonStop Server(s).
      • Clock icon (Historic Detail)

In an open window, displays a list of all monitored metrics over the past hour. Where applicable, numbers have links to other windows and details. Given the amount of the data to be displayed, this Window takes longer than usual to display in full. If you are logged in to a Neighborhood of Servers, it will also feature a dropdown list of Servers for which you can view the historic details.

    • Show All Processes

This pops up a new window where you see all the processes on the server. Once you click on any process, you can observe the process trend and also view the PSTATE of that process.

    • Themes

You can now customize themes for your dashboard. There are several options to choose from – Default, Light, Sand, Gray, Dark Blue, and Dark Green.

    • Dashboard Profiles

Now, you can configure and setup Dashboard Profiles by applying dashboard layouts that you or other users in your team have created. Users can configure both Public or Private Dashboard Profiles, based on their preferences. They also have the option to save multiple profiles that they have created and set one of them as their default profile that will load up every time they log on to Web ViewPoint Enterprise AAU-AAV. In addition, they would also have the option to modify/delete their Dashboard Profiles.

    • Add a New Frame

This is used to add new frames to the dashboard. First, select a Server. Based on whether you have installed applications such as Shadowbase Monitor, Connex Monitor, Base24, etc. for that server or not, you can choose any NonStop Server Objects, such as CPU or Disk that are displayed on a list box or choose an App Object. Select whether you would like a Chart, Bar, Pie or Table display (options, subject to availability). Then you select the preferred metric that you would like to monitor on the Global Dash.

    • Cloud icon

Link to connect to Remote Analyst (AWS or on premises – Requires License), where you can see full historical detail and analytics.

Customizing and Editing Frames

There are certain controls on frames that you can use to customize or edit them and make the most out of Global Dash. They are as follows:

Scaling
  • There are certain frames with graphical representations that can be scaled using the Scaling button on the frame. The Scaling is done in regards to the highest data point on the graph.

New Window
  • Clicking on this button simply opens the frame in a new browser window.

Historic

Clicking on this displays a list of metrics for a specific object of the same server over the past hour in a new browser window. Where applicable, numbers have links to other windows and details. Given the amount of the data to be displayed, this Window takes longer than usual to display in full.

Edit Frame Settings

This helps change any settings with that particular frame on the Global Dash.

Delete Frame

This helps delete the specific frame from your Global Dash.

Positioning Frames

In order to position your frames or change their order, simply hover over the blank space on the title bar of the frame and drag and drop your frames in any position you like on the Global Dash.
